Course Content

Below you can find the types of activities and content we have available in our courses. Our courses are made up firstly with theoretical information in the form of written information, videos or pictures and practical elements such as participating audio tracks, worksheets and assignments.

You will be required in some lessons to complete work offline and upload it via email to be graded.

Content and learning aids throughout our courses

In order for you to learn English and speak like an English native, you need to be able to listen to native speakers and practise your pronunciation. Many of the lessons in the courses will have listening tracks. Some of these will be to introduce new vocabulary, or to practise correct pronunciation for words and sentences or they will be for listening comprehension activities and exercises.

Throughout our courses we have incorporated various different video resources and learning aids. Videos, like audio tracks offer a listening experience along with the addition of visual aids to follow.

At the end of some chapters in our course there will be a quiz to complete before you can progress to the next chapter. These will usually be found at the end of chapters where new grammar has been introduced. These quizzes will test that you have sufficiently learned the elements of the chapter and that you are ready to continue to the next stage in the course.

Assignments are usually in written format and are to be completed offline and then uploaded to the platform for grading. Working alone to complete an assignment shows us how much of the course information you have absorbed.

In most lessons you will be encouraged to practise the vocabulary or grammar you have just learned in a speaking exercise. This is done alone or with a friend if you have the opportunity to study along side someone else. Continuous practise improves pronunciation and confidence.

Reading is a very important activity when studying a new language. I suggest you read aloud and this will help also with your confidence when you come to use the language with English natives. At the beginning you may feel silly and not keen to read aloud as it’s embarrassing for some of us. My suggestion is find a quiet space and just go for it!

When we learn new grammar you will always find some written exercises in the lesson for you to do to practise the new grammar. In most cases this does not need to be uploaded to the platform for grading but sometimes it does. I recommend that you don’t skip the extra exercises and do them otherwise you may find difficulties when it comes to completing the quizzes and the end of course exams.

As well as written assignments and exercise there will also be worksheets that can be downloaded with exercises for you to do. In addition, there are also worksheets with resources which you can also download and use as a reference when doing assignments or activities offline.
